Chemigrams are an incredibly flexible yet relatively simple alternative photographic process where standard darkroom paper is exposed to light and interacted with directly with photographic chemicals and resists.

The paper itself (depending on brand/type) goes through a process of discolouration through yellows, oranges, blues, pinks, purples and browns, and can be manipulated by applying developer to create blacks or fix to create whites.
It gets particularly fun where the chemicals are applied in interesting ways, such as dripping, spraying, painting and printing. The process can also be further expanded through use of resists, such as waxes and oils, foodstuffs such as tomato puree, hummus and other pastes and gels such as toothpaste and vaseline. These block the chemicals and again can be applied in creative ways allowing for painterly, abstract and unpredictable results.
