'Broadsword calling Danny Boy' - Transition 08
Newlyn Art Gallery, Newlyn
September 15 - 23, 2008
Over the course of the week the artist put together a variety of circuits and links between pre-selected and found objects, as well as fabric of the gallery itself, using model cable-car, strings, motors and pulleys. the work explored the links between these objects, as well as looking at themes of scale and Transition, having recently relocated his practice from Cornwall.
As the show progressed the work developed and evolved into a network of cables and objects all linked by the fragile tension of the cables and the ascension of the cars. Gallery visitors were invited to bring objects to potentially be incorporated into arrangement and suggest possible pairings with other present artefacts.

About Transition:
Transition is an opportunity for artists to experiment for a week in a gallery setting. They can use the time and space to consider how a series of work is developing or to try out ideas for an installation or interactive project.
Transition provides visitors with unique access to the creative processes that are usually hidden behind the closed doors of a studio. Now in it’s ninth year, this is Transition’s first realisation at The Exchange and a total of twelve artists participate over the four weeks.
Throughout the week the artists re-evaluate their work and respond to visitors’ comments. Each project is in a constant state of flux, without the constraints of a finalised exhibition
